You may now be thinking that we are like out Aussie cousins, and have crocs over here, but fortunately for us, there are no such beasties here – except for the ones that Murray has on his burgers! Yes, Murray had a crocodile burger at BurgerFuel on Tuesday. I was tempted to try it, and had a bite – it tastes like chicken! (Maybe that’s ’cause it LOOKS like chicken!) Someone made a comment later when I told them that “any meat that is strange to us tastes like chicken…” eg. rabbit, frog etc.) Hmmmm, I think I’ll be sticking to chicken (no skin please)
As for the kitchen and the deck. Well both projects started on Monday – talk about chaos! Poor Buster had to be shut up in the laundry while one lot were working upstairs and the other lot were working downstairs! Stereo skill saws and hammers, not to mention the nail gun thudding away.
Well, kitchen was supposed to be finished on Tuesday but it won’t be until next week sometime now as they st*ffed up and put all the units, hob, underbench oven and rangehood in on one wall totally off centre! I couldn’t believe it! So I am still not cooking in the new kitchen as a) kitchen not complete and b) I still can’t figure out my new fancy hob with no knobs, just sensor pads! Really !
Lots to do on the weekend now as we need to organise new flooring and tiles – exciting stuff – and oh yes, got a new dishwasher today as the old one which we were going to keep, looked a bit tatty in amongst all the new fittings. Hope we still have money left to do the bathroom!
Well, after much waiting, John and I went off on Sunday night to see the RHCP’s. Full of anticipation and set up to see a really good gig in our new Auckland Vector Arena (which is really great!) but I was somewhat disappointed with the Chili’s. They didn’t play hardly any of their really popular stuff and to add insult to injury, at the gig on Saturday night they played “Californication” and “Scar Tissue” – which they did not play on Sunday night!
Whilst there is no doubt about the musicianship of the band and that they played brilliantly, sometimes I felt that they were not even interested in the audience, choosing to jam away with themselves in a tight huddle round Chad Smith (drummer) – Oi! We paid good money to be entertained not to watch a jamming session! At one point the familiar opening riff of “Higher Ground” was being played and then they launched into something else – another disappointment because apparently they played “Higher Ground” on Saturday night!
However we did get “Give It Away” and “Otherside”, which I don’t know if the Saturday night crowd got….
Ok, back from the dead and raring to go! Will be posting stuff more regularly soon.
Today I saw this on YouTube and thought I’d share it. Some of it is really quite funny (IMHO)
