Dear Blog…

Posted in Life and Times! at 8:49 am by Marg

Dear Blog,

Last year I replaced all the windows in our house with the expensive, double-pane energy-efficient kind.

Today, I got a call from the contractor complaining his work had been completed a year ago and I had yet to pay for them.

Boy, oh boy, did we go around and around! Just because I’m a blonde does not mean I’m automatically stupid.

So, I proceeded to tell him just what his fast-talking sales guy told me last year – namely, that in one year, the windows would pay for themselves.

There was silence on the other end of the line, so I just hung up.

I have not heard anything since.

Guess I won that stupid argument!

Graduation Day

Posted in Life and Times! at 11:25 am by Marg

Today Ross graduates from AUT University with a Batchelor of Business degree with a double major – Management and Marketing. We are very proud of him!

The presentation ceremony is at the Auckland Town Hall at 2:30pm. Blair and Murray will also be going with Richard and myself. The Uni only gives out 2 tickets, but I have grabbed a couple for Blair and Murray thru Ticketek…

Happy St. Pat’s Day!

Posted in Life and Times! at 7:23 am by Marg

Well tonight we were supposed to be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with the the most popular Irish band on the planet …. U2
U2
But not to be! The tour has been postponed and they are talking about coming back in November, so hopefully we won’t miss out totally – unlike Foreigner (who we had also booked for) that have totally cancelled!

Art for Art’s Sake

Posted in Life and Times! at 2:51 pm by Marg

Well, have finished painting the hallway and now I have decided in my ultimate wisdom that the hall needs “a little bit extra”. There is a very large bit of wall that in my opinion needs a great piece of artwork.

Now, I DO actually have a friend that is very good at creating wonderful paintings (yes, Robin, you know who you are…) – but he has far more “important” folk to do paintings for, so unfortunately we will never have one of his masterpieces grace our walls this side of 2020!

So! Next best thing was to engage myself to create a masterful piece to brighten up our bare wall…
I have therefore begun work on an abstract painting – using some of the numerous testpots I acquired while trying to choose a suitable colour for the hall. (It has to be an abstract as that way I can get away with anything I choose to put on the canvas! icon-lol )

It is rather large – 1.5 m wide by 0.5 m tall…

Will publish a picture of it when it’s finished! Promise not to just drop the pots on the canvas and let them dry!
