What I learned last Friday

Posted in Life and Times! at 7:53 am by Marg

Friday Bowling with Murray was not my best effort…

However, what I discovered is that after 3 glasses of wine, I get a lot better…

We were leaving after having a little flutter on the “one armed bandits”, when we bumped into Hamish having a practice session and decided to join him for a last game. Well – Guess who won AND got her highest score so far? Scores were: Me -111, Hamish – 98, Murray – 85.

Whoo hooo!!!

Another Week Gone…. Whoosh!

Posted in Life and Times! at 7:48 am by Marg

Gosh, the saying that as you get older, time goes faster – must be true.
Time has just flown by so far this year and I still am trying to get a bit of organisation into our lives as part of my New Year plans (Note – NOT Resolution- Broken too many of those in my time!)

I have finished painting the entrance, hall and stairwell downstairs and just have a couple of finishing coats to do upstairs. Murray has been very kind and is painting the top area of the stairwell as I don’t “do” heights! Once this lot is over, then it’s either going to be R and my room next, or the “Hobby” room (Ross’ old room). Then it’s the really hard ones – - – the bathroom and kitchen. Not looking forward to those!

Poor Blair has been rather ill this week with gastroenteritis and just as he thinks he feels ok, he eats something and it all comes back out again! icon-smellie_sick So it’s Powerade for him all week. I have felt really sorry for him as it is also really hot here at the mo and he has been running a fever.
The other goal to lose 10kg before July is also behind schedule! Here we are, one week left of February and I’ve actually PUT ON 1kg since the beginning of January!!! icon-smellie_cry So now it is 11kg – icon-smellie_ooooicon-word-omg

So! Off to Carolyn today…
May see the girls for coffee and consolation too…
Yup, sounds like a good idea to me!

Supermarkets!

Posted in Life and Times! at 11:30 pm by Marg

Right! I have been threatening this for a while and the mood I’m in at the mo lets me at least get one of my fave moans off of my chest.
Mounting my podium, so listen up!

I go shopping at good old Pak ‘n’ Save every fortnight. This has to be one of the most tedious jobs that was ever invented! The fact that I have to go round the place chucking the groceries in a trolly, then take them out of the trolley to let the check-out operator do her/his bit, then have to remove them from the trolley again (checkout operator put them back in the trolley) to pack them in bags and put them in the car, only to have to remove them from the car and unpack all the bags contents into cupboards at home! How bloody thankless is that task???? icon-smellie_evil

BUT! Wait… There’s more! (and this is what makes the task even worse….)

Please can SOMEONE explain to me why people take supermarket shopping as an excuse for a family outing??? Can’t just ONE person do the shopping – not Maw, Paw and the 9 Kids!!! (well it always feels to me that they have 9 offspring with them as they are constantly jumping in front of my trolley, or screaming at my left, or throwing tantrums in the middle of the aisle (should I run over this one? – will they notice???) or the “MUUUUUUMMMMMMM – I WANT!…..” coming from the right. Not to mention the male that is in control of the trolley. If they can drive cars, why is it that they can’t understand that you cannot leave a trolley in the middle of an aisle and expect not to cause a trolley jam and have some poor trolley trained woman (me) ready to ram her trolley into his ankles, just to give him a reminder of trolley etiquette! icon-smellie_boom

Yup!… It’s happened! I’m finally off my trolley!!! icon-smellie_wink

I have to admit it’s getting better, getting better all the time…

Posted in Life and Times! at 5:03 pm by Marg

I am getting better! icon_kickass
Oh, yes good friends – this Tuesday I again bettered my score at the bowling and not only beat my opponent twice, I actually got a score of 106! Yayyyy!!! Hopefully this means that I will no longer be at the bottom of the individual player’s table, and at least now second from bottom!

R is doing VERY well… His team are at the top of the league and on the individual table about 5th I think… icon_lookaround

Our new student, Patrick from Switzerland has arrived and he is very nice and easy going. He brought us some yummy Swiss chocolate and with no exaggeration – one lot that he has brought are the best chocolates I have ever had!!! No good for the thighs, but great for the soul! Swiss Flag

Blair is back at school for the new year. He is now in his final year and doesn’t have to wear uniform anymore – so the washing pile is getting larger again!

Finally got some scrapbooking done – Andrea kindly took me to a crop at the North Shore Events Centre last night. Now that I have Ross’ old room spare, I really should do more than I am at present, but there is always something else that I have to do like the ironing….

The New Muppet!

Posted in Life and Times! at 8:01 am by Marg

Ok, after being dumped by “The Pinnies” last night as their third player has now returned, this left me free to join “The Muppets”!!!?? As much as I detest the name, I guess we should probably keep it.icon_neutral I do like my team-mates tho’ – Brian and Hamish. They are both new to the league too, but have played before.

Anyway I may get dumped by them after my performance this week! I really started out very well! First two bowls were strikes! icon_eek
Strike!
Then it all went to custard… Landed up with the lovely score of 46.icon_rolleyes

However, I did get better and my highest score of the evening was 84 – an improvement on last week. I really enjoyed it this week and I DO hope they don’t dump me in favour of someone that can actually play! Will try and get some practice in before next week.

Oh and for the record, R also had a good time and did pretty well with all his scores well over 100 (he was bragging, but I can’t remember the exact scores!)
